The first of its kind: Pro Scout School in Las Vegas!
This year was the first annual Pro Scout School hosted by TPG Sports! Pete Philo of the Indiana Pacers is one of the masterminds behind this great event. Pro Scout School is a two day conference in Las Vegas (home of NBA's Summer League) that covers everything about NBA scouting and even more. The event features a who's who of NBA executives giving insight and advice, all led by event emcee Fran Fraschilla. Fran Fraschilla, people!
I don't think I can divulge too many event specifics, but it was a fantastic two day event. The learning is developed around lively panel discussions as well as hands-on scouting in which all participants get to fill out scouting reports on three NBA Summer Leaguers. Night one of the conference culminates in a two hour mixer in which participants are free to mingle with whomever they so choose, from NBA executives all the way to some of their colleagues from other areas of the country. This was such an incredible learning experience that I encourage anyone with basketball dreams to attend.
